Representation made to the GMOA revealed that the Ministry had failed to advertise the vacancy list for Medical Officers who have completed compulsory one year in North - East Province according to the circular no. 01-22/2001.

Re: Violation of Department Rules of Distress Loan in LRH

Representation was made to GMOA that you have taken steps to stop payment of loans to medical officers violating the principles of waiting list.

Following agenda items will be taken up at the general committee
meeting on 30/12/2007.

We request you to submit your resolutions and relevant justifications for following important issues on or before 30th December 2007, by holding branch union meetings.

Re: Appointment of Vice President Dr.Jayantha Balawardana to Consumer

Protection Authority Our Vice President Dr.Jayantha Balawardana has informed us that the government has appointed him as one of the Directors of the newly formed Consumer Protection Authority.

Re : Proposed Amendments to PMIR Act

It is regretted to note that only few have response to our letter dated 07/12/2007 on the above matter.

Re: Concessionary vehicles for Medical Officers.

GMOA would like to place on record the gratitude for timely action by your office and Dr.H.R.Samarathunga to issue a circular to reduce the extra taxes imposed on permit holders following the budget 2008. GMOA has been informed by the membership that following matters

Re : Specialist Medical Officers, Annual Transfer 2008

According to chapter III section 6.1 of the Establishment code application for transfers should be called before 15th August each year. But calling for applications only took place in November 2007.

Re: Additional Taxes imposed on Permit Vehicles in Budget 2008

GMOA appreciate your Excellency and Secretary to Ministry of Finance for the reduction of excise duty on “category 01” vehicles considering the difficulties faced by Medical Officers. At the GMOA discussion with your Excellency, we pointed out the added problems we faced due to confining the permit for Brand New vehicles.

Re: Post Intern Appointments

Representations were made to the GMOA that some vacancies in the above list are situated in areas out of government control. You may appreciate the fact that there is no administrative mechanism to monitor these Medical Officers and to facilitate them with working conditions including their safety.
